In 1994, a group of Colorado International Harvester enthusiasts got together and decided to create an entirely unique event that would bring together the International Harvester community in a way that had never been attempted. This group of individuals formed the Rocky Mountain IH Rendezvous (RMIHR) planning committee and subsequently developed an event and show, along with events related to International vehicles.
The RMIHR show is uniquely Colorado. The show spotlights International vehicles in the heart of Colorado scenery. In 31 years, the event has ben held in the beautiful mountain backdrops of Bailey, Salida, Fairplay, Kremmling, Gunnison and Creede, Colorado. Events which complement the Saturday Show N’ Shine event include trips to rugged backcountry, tech talks, and IH vendor exhibits. “The Rendezvous” provides International owners a chance to feel the beauty of Colorado while sharing their passion for vintage IH iron.
The Wild Game Feed on Saturday night is an event unlike any other. This dinner allows participants to gather and share a meal. It’s an opportunity for friendships to develop, along with a chance to sample some true Rocky Mountain cuisine. The Tuckers have provided meat and the proper preparation of elk and other wild game for the duration of the show.
TIMES HAVE CHANGED
As we look back to the 1994 original RMIHR in Bailey, it’s a great opportunity to reflect on how much has changed in the last 30 years – especially in the world of International Harvesters! In 1994, IH owners used shows and other events to visit and talk about their vehicles. Internet groups such as the Binder Bulletin (which was also a print newsletter received in the mail) helped open the doors for interaction among IH enthusiasts that were outside of the normal scope of the event.
We need to recognize that every year, there are fewer Internationals in the world. It’s encouraging to see the Rendezvous continuing to thrive and actually grow.
Please take the time to look at all of the amazing Internationals that come to this event. From showroom ready trucks, to rough and ready trail rigs, each vehicle at this event is the apple of the owners eye – and has been restored or modified to serve a specific purpose unique to its owner.
Find time to go on a scenic trip in the area, participate in the Games and Wild Game Cook-out and otherwise enjoy this unique event!
Thank you for making RMIHR such a great event!
